The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa State, during the last general election, Labaran Maku, on Thursday lost at the governorship election petitions tribunal sitting in Lafia, the state capital. However, Maku who is former Minister of Information under the Goodluck Jonathan government, said he will challenge the ruling of the tribunal which threw out his case. Chia Victor, counsel to Maku, disclosed that APGA and its governorship candidate have intention to appeal the tribunal’s decision. Governor Mala Buni of Yobe State has taken a third wife barely 24hours after his swearing in. The Governor tied the knot on Thursday with the daughter of his immediate past predecessor, Ibrahim Gaidam. Buni’s new wife is Ummi Adama Gaidam. Valencia have ended Barcelona’s four-year run of winning the Copa del Rey, with a shock 2-1 victory over the champions on Saturday night. Barca were looking to win the competition for the fifth year in a row, a feat that has been achieved in Spain before. Arsenal players and backroom staff have landed in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League final against Chelsea. Gunners boss, Unai Emery, has decided to fly to Baku early, getting a two-day head start on Chelsea. Emery and his squad will use local training facilities, to get ready for the clash with their London rivals. Sen. Ahmad Babba-Kaita, representing Katsina North senatorial district has said that the almajiri challenge is the next greatest danger Nigeria is facing after Boko Haram. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to official declaration of its candidate, Bello Matawalle, as winner of the Zamfara State governorship election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Mahmood Yakubu had on Saturday declared Bello Mohammed Matawalle and other PDP candidates winners of the elections held in the state.
